Climate Week Miami Stands with Los Angeles
As the Palisades and Eaton wildfires continue to burn in Los Angeles, exactly what caused them remains a mystery. But one fact is clear: climate change contributed to conditions that made the devastating fires 35% more likely than they would have been had they occurred before the Earth began warming in the industrial age. Together, the two fires have consumed more than 14 000 hectares and killed more than two dozen people since they started in early January. And their relentless advance has been aided by low rainfall, dry vegetation and the overlap of these drought conditions with strong Santa Ana winter winds.
The Laudato Si Mission: From Vision To Action
The mission of this program is to promote an inclusive vision of education that incorporates sustainability as a fundamental dimension and fosters citizen participation in the light of environmental ethics. All of these projects focused on young leaders in their own area of expertise. The program’s first version includes 50 students from Latin America that work for a year in their communities empowered by the training and network impulsed by Scholas. The Laudato Si' School proposes to respond to the violence with which we treat our mother earth.
